An Uxbridge woman is facing serious charges for her involvement in a Worcester hit-and-run, in which she struck a 10-year-old boy in a crosswalk Tuesday morning.

Gina Amore, 27, was charged with failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk and leaving the scene of an accident with personal injury for hitting the boy, who was thrown 5 feet in front of the car as he walked to school.

“The preliminary investigation reveals that at the time of the incident, the victim and his mother attempted to cross Pleasant Street in a marked crosswalk,” police told the Worcester Telegram and Gazette. “A crossing guard signaled for the mother and son to cross. When they reached the center of the road, the boy was struck by a Ford Explorer.”

Amore was pulled over by police four hours later because of the visible damage to the front of her vehicle. She was subsequently arrested.

The boy’s injuries are not considered life threatening,  police told the Telegram.

Amore will be arraigned Wednesday in district court. Her SUV has been impounded.
