Delaware State Police are looking for a couple suspected of committing “potentially dozens” of thefts from restaurants, convenience stores and gas stations throughout Delaware and Maryland since late 2012.

Investigators earlier this month released surveillance photos of a male and female suspect wanted in connection with thefts from two North Wilmington businesses.

The male suspect allegedly stole money from the office of Harry’s Savoy Grill on Sept. 1 and from the Dash In convenience store Sept. 2, accompanied the second time by the female suspect.

Both times, police said, the man dressed as a store employee, wearing a white shirt, black tie, black pants and a black apron tied below his waist.

The woman allegedly distracted a store worker, allowing the man to walk into the back office area and grab cash.

Now, police are saying they have determined the duo have since late 2012 committed potentially dozens of similar crimes throughout Delaware and the Eastern shore of Maryland, with the woman each time acting as a lookout while the man entered an office and stole cash.

The man has been known to dress like an employee of the business or vendor he’s stealing from, often carrying papers “in order to seem innocuous,” according to investigators.

Troopers are asking for the public’s help in identifying the couple, and are warning area business owners to be on the lookout for unauthorized people in employee-only sections of their stores and restaurants.

One suspect is described as a 5-foot-10-inch tall, heavyset black male between the ages of 50 and 60.

The second suspect is described as a 5-foot-5-inch tall black female between the ages of 45 and 55.

Anyone with information on the suspects or crimes is asked to contact Cpl. Mayberry of Troop 1 at 302-761-6677, or to submit an anonymous tip by texting CRIMES (274637) with the keyword “DSP,” calling Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333, by downloading the Delaware State Police Mobile Crime Tip App or by filling out this online form.
