Community members are coming together to raise funds for the West Roxbury teen severely injured in a Sept. 6 car accident on the Arborway.

As of Monday morning, the fundraiser had exceeded $46,000 on its way to the family’s ideal amount, $250,000, according to the West Roxbury Patch.

Mark Delamare, a student at Boston Latin, is recovering in Atlanta from a severe spinal chord injury. There were five other victims of the crash, two of whom were seriously injured.

Mark’s uncle wrote on the fundraising page that “Mark has a long road of recovery ahead of him, but he is a determined young man and is fighting everyday to get better.”

The Patch also reported that Nikolas Papadopoulos, 18, of West Roxbury, will be charged with the criminal offense of negligent operation of a motor vehicle and civil offenses of speeding, failing to ensure that two passengers under 16 were wearing seat belts, and unsafely crossing the road’s lane markings all related to a two-car crash on the Arborway, according to a joint statement from Suffolk County District Attorney Dan Conley’s office and the Massachusetts State Police.
