Philadelphians have just 10 days left to register for a free yard tree through the city’s TreePhilly giveaway program.

Residents can request up to two free yard trees by calling 215-683-0217 or by visiting TreePhilly’s website.

Community groups who will be planting on private property that has a community use, such as faith-based institutions or senior center, can register for up to 10 trees.

The deadline for requesting a tree is Thursday, Oct. 31.

Residents who pre-register for the Yard Tree Program will for the first time be eligible to receive a fruit tree. Participants can choose from 8 to 10 species of trees at one of six giveaway events.

At each giveaway event, residents can also receive free mulch and tote bags, as well as participate in tree planting and care demonstrations led by the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society.

The yard tree pick-up dates are:

Saturday, Nov. 9
10 a.m.-4 p.m.
Pennypack Environmental Center, 8600 Verree Road

Sunday, Nov. 10
11 a.m.-1 p.m.
Columbus Square Playground, 1200 Wharton St.

Saturday, Nov. 16
11 a.m.-1 p.m.
Overington Park, 4600 Leiper St.

Sunday, Nov. 17

All trees will be available on a first come, first-served basis.

Residents with limited mobility can apply for free tree delivery and planting by a representative from the Philadelphia Department of Parks and Recreation.

Space for that service is limited.

Those interested are encouraged to apply early by contacting Erica Smith Fichman at 215-683-0217 or by visiting TreePhilly’s website.
