Judge dismisses assault charges against Celtic Jared Sullinger
Charges relating to an alleged assault by Boston Celtic Jared Sullinger were dismissed by a judge on Monday.
Sullinger, 21, was arraigned last month on charges including assault and battery after he allegedly assaulted his girlfriend during a domestic incident at his Waltham home. He pleaded not guilty at the time.
A spokeswoman for the Middlesex district attorney’s office said Monday that a judge dismissed the case because it was determined that the victim would use her Fifth Amendment right not to testify and that prosecutors could not proceed with their case.
In a statement released through the Celtics shortly after his arraignment, Sullinger said he was embarrassed and humbled by his arrest.
Sullinger played in 45 games for the Celtics last season, his first year as a pro basketball player. The 6 foot-9 inch, 260-pound player came to the Celtics from Ohio State University.
