President Obama heads to Boston on Wednesday to discuss Affordable Care Act
President Barack Obama will land in Massachusetts on Wednesday for a visit to Boston, where he’ll discuss his controversial Affordable Care Act.
White House officials confirmed to CBS that Obama will speak in historic Faneuil Hall.
Faneuil Hall is the same location where former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney signed his own version of health care reform into law in 2006.
“It is the Massachusetts experience that shows you what happens when people put politics aside and make sure that people are covered,” said David Simas, a White House deputy senior adviser, according to the Boston Globe. “Faneuil Hall, and that historic setting, is a perfect backdrop to show Democrats and Republicans working together.”
Obama’s visit is the same day that U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius is expected to testify before Congress.
While in the Bay State, President Obama will head to the suburb of Weston to attend a fundraiser at the home of Alan Solomont, former ambassador to Spain.
