Her condition? “New — not used.” That’s how a Russian teenager only identified as “Shatuniha” described herself on Russian auction website 24au.ru, reports the Siberian Times.

Shatuniha received a winning bid of $27,950 on Oct. 31. The winner of the auction was identified as a man named Evgeniy Volnov.

The 18-year-old listed the item as “virginity” and wrote on the site that she needed some fast cash: “I am in urgent need of money, so I am selling the most precious thing I possess. I am ready to meet up soon, even as soon as tomorrow, and I am ready to have my virginity verified. I can come to a hotel at Predmostnaya Square with a document confirming my virginity, and with a person who will take the cash and leave, so that I am not fooled. … This person will take away the money, but I will stay. … The money should be cash only.”

The young woman is based in Krasnoyarsk, Russia, where police say her transaction is all kosher. Authorities told reporters it did not fall under prostitution. A spokesperson said, “This situation is neither an administrative nor a criminal violation. Nor does it fit into a description of the prostitution clause from the Code of the Administrative Violations.”

The story has received much attention from the Russian media. On KP.ru, commenters wrote, “Another illustration that shows everything is sold in this country. … What’s there to talk about when it comes to selling your honor and conscience?” while others asked what was so special about this girl that someone would pay so much money just to sleep with her.
