TEDxBrooklyn slated for Friday
TEDxBrooklyn, an independent spin-off of the famous TED Talks, is slated for this Friday at Brooklyn Bowl.
The TEDx program was established by TED, but the events themselves are planned by local organizers.
This year’s TEDxBrooklyn theme is “EVERYONE ONLY.”
The organizers say they plan to “celebrate the power of WE,” promoting an atmosphere of collaboration, inclusivity and community.
“Each person we chose to speak champions the idea that we are better together,” said organizer Stephanie Najor.
The expected speakers range from musicians and filmmakers, like M.I.A.’s drummer Kiran Gandhi and Spike Lee, to local community leaders like Robert Groff, the principal of P.S. 244, “the active learning elementary school.”
The day starts with a string quartet performance at 9 a.m. and ends with a party at 5 p.m. “Lifestyle design company” NY State of Mind will be doing live painting near the end of the day, and four TED Talk videos will also be screened throughout the day.
