Quincy Police search for stolen nativity statues
Police are asking for the public’s help after multiple statues from a Quincy Square nativity scene have gone missing.
Statues of Mary and Jesus were taken from the holiday display at 1305 Hancock St. near City Hall, Quincy police said on Thursday morning. It was later announced that Joseph and a lamb had also gone missing from the manger, according to WBZ.
The department issued a “be on the lookout” alert for the missing religious figures, which were bolted down.
This isn’t the first time the Quincy Square nativity has been hit by thieves. In 2012, the fiberglass Jesus was stolen and subsequently discovered in a cemetery before returning to the manger. The baby Jesus has been swiped in several previous years as well.
If you have any info regarding the missing Jesus and Mary statues, please call the department’s 24-hour tip line at 617-745-4014, or Detective Karvelis at 617-745-5765.
