Rush Limbaugh on women’s breasts: ‘Stop staring at my eyes’

A national anti-harassment group is demanding an apology from controversial conservative blogger Rush Limbaugh after he called sexual harassment against women “human nature” and suggested on his radio show that women should tell their breasts to “stop staring at my eyes.”

Hollaback! has launched a petition on Change.org in response to the comments, which the group and Huffington Post called Limbaugh’s “latest attack on women.”

The radio personality told men that the next time they check out a woman, “You walk up to the woman and say, ‘Will you please ask your breasts to stop staring at my eyes?’”

According to the Center for Disease Control, “non-contact unwanted sexual experiences,” including sexual harassment, are the most prevalent form of sexual violence for both men and women in the United States.

The group’s website, ihollaback.org, accepts reports from people who claim to have suffered any kind of harassment — often sexual. Contributors report missing school, changing jobs or moving homes to avoid exposure to harassment.

“Street harassment isn’t ‘human nature,’ it’s a form of violence. Rush’s grim view of ‘human nature’ ignores the many good men who are out there — supporting women, respecting women and working alongside women to build a world where everyone has the right to feel safe and confident,” said Executive Director Emily May.
