Update: Madyson Figueroa and Janessa Figueroa-Reim, the Springfield sisters who went missing on Sunday morning, were found safe on Monday afternoon.

In a statement on their Twitter page, the Springfield Police Department announced that the children had been found that afternoon while walking in Springfield.

“Both missing children, 6 year old Madyson Figueroa and 14 year old Janessa Figueroa-Reim have been located unharmed by Springfield Police, found walking at Federal and Worthington streets. At this time both females are being brought to the Youth Assessment Center for evaluation. An investigation is still on-going” the statement read.

Earlier: A pair of sisters went missing after heading out for a walk in Springfield on Sunday morning.

Madyson “Mady” Figueroa, 6, and Janessa Figueroa-Reim, 14, went for a walk on Sunday and never returned home, their mother Kristy Heim told the Springfield Republican. They were last seen on Liberty St. at around 11 a.m.

Janessa is about 5-foot-3 and 180 pounds, while Mady is about 3-foot-8 and 70 pounds. Both girls have brown eyes and brown hair. Janessa was wearing a gray pea coat, and Mady was wearing a white coat, their mother said.

On her Facebook account on Monday morning, Kristy posted this sign pictured above, along with the message “Please bring my kids home.”

Anyone with information about the whereabouts of the Figueroa sisters is asked to call the Springfield Police Detective Bureau at (413) 787-6355 or (413) 787-6360.
