Dangerous wind chills and below-freezing temperatures continue to threaten the Northeast on Tuesday.

According to the National Weather Service, a wind chill advisory is in effect until Wednesday for Central and Western Mass., where wind chills are predicted to drop to 20 degrees below zero.

Because of the devastating temperatures, JetBlue Airways suspended all flights at Logan Airport on Monday, with plans to gradually resume them on Tuesday.

“It’s a combination of everything that has had a domino effect the last few days,” JetBlue spokesman Anders Lindstrom told Reuters. “As one of the largest carriers in the Northeast, weather in this area impacts our entire route network and operations.”

The brunt of the 4,400 cancellations was felt in the Norhteast, where JetBlue has nearly 80 percent of its operations.

Airlines as a whole canceled more than 3,000 flights on Monday as freezing conditions hobbled operations, Reuters reports.

Due to several burst pipes in the Boston area, including at the Prudential Center, the National Weather Service issued a notice asking residents to stay aware of the possibility of frozen pipes and monitor their homes.

“This very cold air may lead to frozen water pipes, including fire sprinkler systems and potential property damage,” the NWS stated, adding that letting a faucet drip during extreme cold can help prevent burst pipes.
