A Dartmouth police officer seized 200 grams of heroin during a traffic stop Monday.

Trooper Robert Plante of the Dartmouth Police Department was patrolling Interstate 195 when he stopped an Audi A6 sedan for a moving vehicle violation, according to the Massachusetts State Police.

After the vehicle was stopped, Plante conducted a search and found about 200 grams of an off-white powdery substance, believed to be heroin, in the possession of a passenger. The Fall River Herald News identified the passenger as Ralph Dagostino, 46, of East Wareham, adding that he was charged with possession with intent to distribute a Class A substance, trafficking in heroin, possession of a Class A substance and conspiracy to violate drug laws.

Another passenger, 21-year-old Catherine Murphy of Plymouth, had an outstanding arrest warrant from Wareham District Court for leaving the scene of a property damage accident, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, using a motor vehicle without authority and unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.

The driver of the car, as well as two other passengers, were issued civil citations. Dagostino was arraigned in New Bedford District Court on Tuesday morning.
