Hingham police search for man who left envelope filled with money
Police in Hingham are looking for a man who was seen on surveillance videos at an area bakery last week. But authorities say it’s not because the man did anything wrong.
Hingham Police report that on Friday shortly after 3 p.m., the man entered White’s Bakery inside the Derby Street Shoppes in Hingham, and picked out some items to purchase. While at the counter he removed a folded envelope filled with cash from his pocket, and left it on the display counter during a conversation with the clerk.
Just one minute later, another clerk saw the envelope and found that it was filled with cash. The clerk immediately turned it over to her manager, and the bakery later contacted police after no one came forward to claim the money.
The man pictured is white with thick dark hair, about 50 years old and was wearing dark pants, a dark jacket and tan shoes. The envelope had no writing or markings on it and contained a large amount of cash.
The police have not had any inquiries about the money. If you recognize the man in the video, authorities ask that you contact Hingham Police Officer Eric Chessler at 781-749-1212.
