Royal Wedding: The schedule

We know the wedding starts at 6 a.m. EST, but where should we set up our camping chairs for the rest of the royal wedding day?

The streets of London will be crowded with royal well-wishers, how and where will the royal groom and bride-to-be will spend their day?

William will spend the morning at Clarence House and travel from there to the ceremony. Kate and her family will spend the night before the wedding at the Goring Hotel, a traditional, luxurious hotel just across from Buckingham Palace.

Guests begin arriving at Westminster Abbey, according to their social standing.

» 4:50 a.m. EST
Foreign dignitaries arrive, followed by foreign royals at 5:20 a.m.

» 5:15 a.m. EST
Prince William and Prince Harry arrive at the abbey.

» 5:27 a.m. EST
Kate’s mother and brother arrive at the abbey.

» 5:30 a.m. EST
British royals start to arrive at Westminster Abbey, followed by senior royals at 5:40 a.m. The prince of Wales arrives at 5:42 a.m., the queen and duke of Edinburgh at 5:45 a.m.

» 5:51 a.m. EST
Kate leaves the Goring Hotel for the abbey — let’s hope there’s no traffic en route.

» 6 a.m. EST
Ceremony begins at Westminster Abbey — 1,900 guests have been invited. It will be shown on huge screens in Trafalgar Square and in Hyde Park, and relayed on speakers along the route.

» 7:15 a.m. EST
After the ceremony, the couple will travel by horse-drawn carriage to Buckingham Palace. The route will take them through Parliament Square, to Whitehall, down Horse Guards Parade, to the Mall and then end at the palace. It took Charles at Diana about an hour to reach the Palace from St. Paul’s Cathedral along a similar route, but this time it will be just 15 minutes.

» 8:25 a.m. EST
After catching their breath at the palace, the couple, and the royal family will make an appearance on the balcony, and the couple will share a kiss.

» 8:30 a.m. EST
There will be a flyover of Buckingham Palace by the RAF.

Next, the queen will host a lunchtime reception at the palace. Six-hundred and fifty guests have been invited to the reception.

Prince Charles will host a dinner at the palace to be followed by dancing for 300 guests.
