Cycle for Survival: Why I rode

Meyers puts the pedal to the metal.

Despite founder Jennifer Goodman Linn’s passing in July, the event she founded to raise money for rare cancers, Memorial Sloan-Kettering’s Cycle for Survival, took place over the weekend. We asked celebs in attendance on Sunday what got them up early to pedal.

Seth Meyers

Meyers, a third-year participant, hosted Weekend Update on “Saturday Night Live” just hours before he rode!

“I’ve never lucked out — they’ve always been after a show. I knew Jen for a long time so I was really lucky to get involved with this in the beginning. It’s such a great event and every time you meet better people. It’s really inspiring and certainly this year, after losing Jen, this is the most important year.”

Ethan Zohn

The “Survivor” winner is currently fighting Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

“For me, to see everyone is pretty inspiring. To see hundreds of complete strangers pedaling their asses off to raise money for cancer research that’s gonna fund a drug that’ll save my life — I mean, how cool is that? They’re riding for people they’ll never even know and people they’ll never even meet. That’s pretty honorable that people will do that for other people. The drug that I’m on now wasn’t available two years ago, so it’s events like this that fund it for cancer research.”

Kristin Chenoweth

“My mom’s a cancer survivor. I just hope that word continues     to get out there so that Sloan-Kettering and places like MD     Anderson that help my mom can have just all the money that they need to help people with cancer.”
