A Study Has Found: Going to the gym can make women orgasm

Poor stock photo model. Poor, poor stock photo model.

For women’s history month, it’s an all-ladies edition of A Study Has Found today.

It’s a setup straight from the imagination of a pervy teenage boy: Scientists from Indiana University are reporting that some women may enjoy a hidden benefit from going to the gym — orgasms.

According to the research, up to 15% of women are able to experience what the scientists call exercise-induced orgasms — which some of them are hilariously calling “coregasms” — with even more experiencing some form of sexual pleasure while they work out.

The cause of all this unexpected coming and going is unclear, but the researchers speculate it may have something to do with the very act of physical exertion itself.

What exercises do the trick? The top pleasure-inducer is the abdominal workout known as the captain’s chair, with weight lifting, yoga and biking next on the list.

Looks like working out was even better for you than we thought!

More adventures in psuedoscience

  • We’re generally skeptical of those frequent studies that perpetuate the image of men as lovable, dumb, sex-obsessed oafs, but this one’s fin anyway: Researchers in the Netherlands have found that even thinking about women makes men stupid. At last, the matriarchy’s plans are working!
  • However, ladies, you’re not out of the woods yet! Nearly 40% of women in America have never — repeat, never — been married! And if you think that‘s bad, also note that even if you do get married, there’s a 50% chance your union won’t survive your first 20 years together.
  • There is some little bit of good news, though: If you attempt to drink away the pain of loneliness, you may end up reducing your risk of a stroke. Win-win!
