Boston shooting last year was gang related

The death of Boston man on Dennis Street last year was the result of ongoing gang feuds in the Boston area, according to a Suffolk County homicide prosecutor.

Karl Prescott, 27, and Yonas Tewolde, 28, both of Roxbury, were arraigned in court today on charges of first-degree murder, unlawful possession of a firearm, and unlawfully carrying a loaded firearm.

The duo is allegedly responsible for shooting Paul Fagan, 27, while he walked down Stafford Street in Boston in May of last year.

According to the Suffolk District Attorney’s Office, Fagan, who was a member of the Dennis Street gang, was killed when Prescott and Tewolde drove up to him in a gold-colored Cadillac, got out of the car, and began shooting in his direction.

When fleeing the scene, the car allegedly struck a pedestrian, who was able to provide police with a vehicle description.

On May 3, 2010, the Cadillac was discovered on Langford Park.

Witnesses said two individuals were wearing gloves and cleaning the interior and exterior of the vehicle with wipes.

During the course of a year-long investigation, members of the Suffolk DA’s and Boston Police
Department’s homicide units learned of the two defendants’ alleged ties to the Copeland Street gang and that group’s feud with Dennis Street.

Superior Court Clerk Magistrate Connie Wong ordered the two men held without bail pending trial. Prescott and Tewolde are expected to return to court on August 30.
