Kevin Durant: New legend of Harlem’s Rucker Park
As a big fan of basketball, particularly pickup games played in the hot sun or cool summer night on blacktop, I love seeing some street balling.
I’ve spent many hours burning rubber on blacktops from North Jersey to South Philadelphia over the last three decades and there’s been many nasty shooting displays to bear witness to that no one ever got a chance to videotape as it unfolded. Catching fire is normally seen only by the shooter in a zone and the handful of players also jostling up and down the court with him (or her).
Alas, a videotaper caught one of the great scorers of our time, Kevin Durant, catching fire and throwing bombs from deep at one of the most hallowed grounds known to street ball: Rucker Park in Harlem, N.Y.
