Find a friend: Adopt a pet

Jeb, a 6-year-old Lab/chow mix, needs a new home.

Every Monday, Metro will feature an animal you can adopt from a city shelter.

Hi! My name is Jeb! I’m a 6-year-old male Labrador retriever and chow chow mix. I like people I know, but it will take time and patience for me to warm up to strangers.

I know my basic commands like “sit” and “down.” I am very eager to learn basic manners and will work well for a taste of my favorite treat. When out for a walk, I stay right by your side.

I may have a few dog friends, but I should be the only dog in my forever home. I don’t like having certain parts of my body touched, but the shelter’s behavior department will show you some exercises to help me become more comfortable.

My old owners said I was house-trained, but I may need supervision at first as I adjust to a new home. You will need to teach me to trust you. I need an owner with some experience. I should be okay going to a home with kids ages 14 and up. I want to chase cats and cannot go to a home with them.

To adopt Jeb

Jeb is neutered and up to date on all vaccinations. The ASPCA also includes a microchip and free         follow-up vet exam.
To adopt Jeb, visit
424 E. 92nd St., between York and First avenues, Monday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. or Sunday 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Visit or call 212-876-7700, ext. 4120, for more information.
