Find a friend: Adopt a pet
Every Monday, Metro will feature an animal you can adopt from a city shelter.
Hi! My name is Jeb! I’m a 6-year-old male Labrador retriever and chow chow mix. I like people I know, but it will take time and patience for me to warm up to strangers.
I know my basic commands like “sit” and “down.” I am very eager to learn basic manners and will work well for a taste of my favorite treat. When out for a walk, I stay right by your side.
I may have a few dog friends, but I should be the only dog in my forever home. I don’t like having certain parts of my body touched, but the shelter’s behavior department will show you some exercises to help me become more comfortable.
My old owners said I was house-trained, but I may need supervision at first as I adjust to a new home. You will need to teach me to trust you. I need an owner with some experience. I should be okay going to a home with kids ages 14 and up. I want to chase cats and cannot go to a home with them.
