It’s a riches-to-riches story for the 1-percent class: Three Greenwich, Conn., wealth mangers claimed a $254 million Powerball jackpot yesterday — and promised to donate much of the pot to charity.
Greg Skidmore, Brandon Lacoff and Tim Davidson announced yesterday that they won the quarter of a billion dollars.

The trio bought a $1 Quick Pick ticket at a Stamford, Conn., gas station on Nov. 2, with the winning numbers of 12-14-34-39-46, Powerball 36.

They formed a trust and hired a lawyer to help manage the money.

All three work at Belpointe, a firm that offers advice and services on wealth management, real estate and legal issues. The company manages $82 million, according to the New York Post.

The jackpot ranked as the largest ever won in Connecticut, dwarfing the previous record of $59.5 million in 2005.

According to the Belpointe website, Skidmore was a former member of the United States sailing team and hoped to go to the Olympics before joining the firm.

“It feels good,”?was all he would say at a press conference yesterday.

The manager of the gas station also reported glee at the winnings: Ranjit Singh’s BP station will receive $100,000 for vending the winning ticket.

“We’re really happy,” Singh told reporters. “Christmas is a little early.”

Donating it?

The three will take home $103,586,824 after taxes, their lawyer said, although they say they plan to  donate a significant amount to charity.

“This is going to benefit many people,” said their attorney. They reportedly put together a trust to manage the money before announcing their big win.
