More human remains found in Long Island

Suffolk County police search Gilgo Beach.

Another set of human remains was found Friday evening on the Long Island shore, just meters away from bodies believed to be victims of the Gilgo Beach killer.

The remains were found in Manorville, Long Island, the fourth set to be found in that general area since 2000.

Police said a man was walking with his dog on a trail off of North Street, less than a mile west of Wading River Road, when he discovered human skeletal remains at approximately 6:30 p.m. The remains were found in a heavily wooded area just 300 feet north of the road, with trees “growing through” them.

“I saw something weird sort of sticking out of the ground so I decided to take a look,” Matt Samuel, who found the body, told reporters.

Police are examining the remains and currently are not linking them to the Gilgo killer.

“At this time we cannot say if the remains are connected to any other cases,” Suffolk County Deputy Inspector Kevin Fallon said. “We cannot yet determine the age or the gender of the remains.”

The new Manorville remains were found just four miles from where the partial remains of Gilgo victim Jessica Taylor, a 20-year old prostitute, were discovered in 2003. Another woman’s partial remains, known only as Jane Doe No. 6, were found in Manorville in 2000.
