The last pictures of Franco Garcia?

Franco Garcia

Photographs recently released by police capture the last known traces of Franco Garcia before he vanished.

Investigators are still trying to determine what happened to the missing 21-year-old Boston College student after a night out with friends.

Newton and state police distributed the pictures of Garcia that were captured as he walked past an ATM in Cleveland Circle the night he went missing. The pictures were taken at 12:18 a.m. Feb. 22.

“It appears Franco is heading north on Chestnut Hill Avenue,” Newton police said in a statement.
State police said the photos are the last ones they have of Garica and show him right after he left a Brighton bar.

Garcia went missing after he left a group of friends he had spent time with at Mary Ann’s, a bar popular with BC students. He parked his car on campus and it was still there after he went missing.
A ping from a cell phone tower showed that Garcia’s phone was somewhere near the Chestnut Hill Reservoir around 1:15 a.m. the day he went missing.

State police divers scoured the reservoir for days in an attempt to find any sign or clue of Garcia, but they found nothing.

Police also recently searched his parent’s home in West Newton.

Garcia’s family has put up missing person posters in the Cleveland Circle area and stood vigil at the reservoir as police searched the water.

Friends have also taken to social media, using Facebook and Twitter to help spread word of the search. Nearly 2,800 people are members of the Franco Garcia missing person Facebook group.

The effort even gained the support of musician Bruce Springsteen, who posted about the search effort on his Facebook and Twitter pages. Springsteen’s son is also a BC student.
