Another body found in Long Island (Updated)
Another body has been found in Long Island, cops said.
Suffolk County police reported last night that a jogger found a body in the woods in Manorville on Wednesday.
Cops said today that the body was a woman of an unknown age, which had not been in the woods very long.
Detective Jack Fitzpatrick, commanding
officer of the Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad, told reporters that they do not think the body is related to a serial killer they say is responsible for a
string of bodies dumped by the water in Long Island, including near
“Nothing at all indicates a connection,” Fitzpatrick said, according to Newsday.
Homicide detectives are combing the scene, cops said, and officials are waiting on an autopsy for more information.
Fitzpatrick told Newsday earlier this month that he wants to take a fresh look at the unsolved mystery of
“It’s certainly going to get a thorough look,” he told Newsday.
Despite others who said they guessed the work of one killer, Fitzpatrick told Newsday, “My opinion is that it’s very unlikely that it’s one person.”
Human remains were also found last month in Manorville, which police said were also unrelated to the investigation.
