Boston University officials investigate alleged hazing

Boston Police and BU officials are investigating an alleged hazing incident that occurred in Allston Monday. According to reports, five pledges were found bound together, covered in various sauces, with partly-shaved heads.

Boston University is back in the spotlight.

According to BU Today, nine students from the school, members of an unrecognized fraternity are under investigation for allegedly hazing  a group of men at an Allston apartment on Monday.

Boston police were called to a complaint of a loud party at 24 Ashford St. early in the morning where they allegedly discovered five pledges, bound together by duct tape, covered in various condiments.

The pledges, believed to be BU students, were wearing only their underwear and covered in red welts, according to the report.

According to reports, the pledges had parts of their heads shaved, and were doused in fish sauce, hot sauce and other refrigerated liquids.

The students responsible are allegedly part of Alpha Epsilon Pi, an unrecognized fraternity.

The BU Police Department and the Boston Police are conducting an investigation, however, none of the students questioned provided comments to officials.

Hazing is a misdemeanor and is punishable by up to a year in jail and a $3,000 fine.

The incident comes at a time when Boston University is trying to shake a recent mishap with a student-run newspaper.

In The Daily Free Press’ April Fools’ Day issue, students wrote about Disney characters being “gang banged” and “roofied.”

The paper sparked outrage on campus, leading to the resignation of the paper’s editor.

The school’s Hockey team has also been on the radar following two alleged sexual assaults.
