‘Obama Girl’ tells Metro why her mind changed about Obama in 2012

A screengrab from Ettinger's steamy video ode to Barack.

Obama has lost a possible endorsement for November that would have seemed obvious — Obama Girl.

Contrary to the song that made her famous in 2007, Amber Lee Ettinger, star of the viral video “Crush on Obama,” can’t say whether she’ll be voting for Obama in the upcoming presidential election.

“Last time I was singing and dancing about him on rooftops and subways,” laughed Ettinger, who talked to Metro yesterday. “But now I guess I’m just harder to please, a little smarter, and just unsure.”

Specifically, Ettinger said she had hoped the economy and immigration reform would have progressed more during Obama’s term in the White House.

Still, the 29-year old Pennsylvania native, now taking acting classes at Edgemar Acting Studio in California, admits that Obama is just one man with a heavy burden to bear.

“We all had such high expectations for him and maybe it was too much,” said Ettinger. “I hate to say it but it’s like a relationship where you realize that nobody is perfect and he does have flaws.”

The actress-model, who splits her time between California and New York, would not say who she is voting for. But she did say she’s keeping her mind open.

“I don’t like to be put in a box,” said Ettinger about choosing a Democrat versus a Republican. “I’ll choose whatever it is that I find to be the right thing for me at the time.”

Ettinger became known as “Obama Girl” after a YouTube video of her singing a song about her love for the then-U.S. Senator went viral during the 2008 presidential election. 24.5 million hits later Ettinger is still known for her doting lyrics.

“I can’t leave you alone,” she sings in a t-shirt with Obama’s face on it. “‘Cause I’ve got a crush on Obama.”

Meanwhile young women voters like Ettinger are expected to be crucial in helping Obama win this November. According to NBC his chances of re-election may very well hinge on women voters.

Here’s Ettinger’s original love song to Barack:

And here’s a video released by Ettinger earlier this year also suggested her crush was weakening, pleading for Obama to “step it up.”

“You better step up, cuz I need that man, if my old crush on you was true,” Ettinger sings in that music video. “Cause across the land … all our hearts were bet on you.”
