Reaction from the day after the election

Garbage day couldn't have come soon enough for some political supporters.

It’s the day after the national election and that means there are some really happy people and really angry people at work and in class today.

A happy Senator-elect Elizabeth Warren went to Broadway station this morning to thank those who voted for her in as the first woman to represent the Bay State in the Senate.

“We got to do it, and we got to do it now. We have to cut spending and we have to raise revenues. We have to say those who’ve made it big have to pay a fair share. That’s what it takes to get out of this hole,” said Warren, according to the State House News Service.

Meanwhile, some of those who supported her opponent, Sen. Scott Brown, were quick to discard their lawn signs and had them out for trash pick up this morning.

While the race was closer statewide with Warren earning 54 percent of the vote to Brown’s 46 percent, Boston voters were more decisive. Warren won Boston with 74 percent of the vote, according to unofficial results.

President Barack Obama did even better among Boston voters and earned 78 percent of the vote in his victory over Republican Mitt Romney.

Romney held his election night party at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center and just after 11 p.m. when media outlets began calling the race for Obama, scores of sullen Romney supporters left the South Boston hall.

Today, some of them vented their frustrations on Twitter while others expressed their happiness over last night’s results:
