Boston Police release video of Beacon Hill sex assault suspect

On Saturday Boston Police released this photo of the sexual assault suspect.

In the hope of tracking down an alleged criminal, Boston Police today released a video of a man suspected of breaking into a Beacon Hill apartment last week and sexually assaulting a woman there.

Boston Police said the man, seen in the video below, forced his way into the Beacon Hill home around 3:15 a.m. Saturday and sexually assaulted and robbed a woman, who later reported it to police.

The home is near Joy and Myrtle streets, police said, however they have been tight lipped on further details about the assault save to say the suspect showed the woman a weapon, possibly a knife.

What the video here. People with information about this crime can contact Boston Police.

Police have also released a photo of the man suspected in the assault. He is shown using an ATM machine and is described as black with braided hair and in his late 20s to early 30s.

Saturday’s attack has left people living in Beacon Hill — one of the city’s most expensive and desirable neighborhoods — on edge and has prompted police to issue a community alert.

The incident comes on the heels of two other attacks about a week ago in Roxbury when two teenage girls were assaulted in separate incidents near Camden Street. Both times the man commented on the physical appearance of the women before the attack.

No one has been arrested in connection with with those crimes, and police said during a press conference yesterday that there is no evidence to suggest that the Roxbury attacks are connected to Saturday’s assault.

“We know these [community] alerts generate a great amount of concern in our neighborhoods and we want you to know that we are just as concerned as you are,” said Boston Police Department Deputy Superintendent Kelly Nee, who did not give any more specifics on Saturday’s attack.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Boston Police Sexual Assault Unit at 617-343-4400, or provide a tip anonymously by calling 1-800-494-TIPS or texting ‘TIP’ to CRIME (27463).
