Woman slashed in Central Park
A woman was slashed in the arm by her common-law husband today in Central Park, police said.
An NYPD spokesman told Metro that a 30-year-old woman was slashed today around 10:50 a.m. in the Great Hill section of the park, near 106th Street and Central Park West.
The woman was expected to survive and was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital.
Their child was present, the spokesman said, but was not injured and was taken to a separate hospital “as a precaution.”
The man was apprehended at the scene, police said, and he was expected to be charged.
A Walk in the Park, the blog by NYC Park Advocates, reported that the man slashed his own wrists and the child was covered in blood.
