Half-million bail in Dorchester gun, drug arrests
Two Dorchester men were held on half a million dollars cash bail each today after being arrested Tuesday for having a shotgun, an AK-47, nine handguns, more than 1,000 rounds of ammunition, and a large quantity of cocaine.
Amilcar Castillo, 45, and Estuardo-Rafael Castillo Guzman, 43, are charged with trafficking in more than 200 grams of cocaine after Boston Police discovered the drug in their Rill Street home. Castillo Guzman is charged with unlawful possession of ammunition, three counts of improper storage of a firearm and one count of possessing a firearm in the commission of a felony.
“One of these defendants had nine loaded firearms in his room, including a loaded handgun under his pillow and an unsecured AK-47 next to his bed. The other had more than 250 grams of cocaine,” said Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley, who called the amount of firepower and narcotics in their home “extremely disturbing.”
“This is what we’re referring to when we talk about the nexus of guns and drugs in Boston.”
