MTA manager demoted after taking generator: Report
An MTA employee was reportedly demoted after taking an agency generator during Hurricane Sandy.
MTA spokesman Kevin Ortiz confirmed to Metro that Gregory Lombardi has been demoted.
Ortiz would not elaborate about the cause.
But the Daily News reports that Lombardi’s salary was cut in half after he allegedly took home an agency generator during Sandy.
His Long Island home had lost power, according to the paper.
His $165,000 salary was reportedly sliced to $83,000.
“He was slapped down big time,” a source told the Daily News.
He would not be the only state employee penalized after actions during Sandy.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo fired one of his employees in November, emergency management head Steven Kuhr, after finding out he allegedly used a state crew to remove a tree from his Long Island home.
