Long Island College Hospital in Cobble Hill may close, according to Brownstoner.

The President of SUNY Downstate Medical Center has reportedly already suggesting shutting the hospital down, and the NY Post reported that it may be sold and developed into luxury housing.

The hospital could reportedly be sold for as much as $100 million, and Brownstoner noted that SUNY is “virtually broke.”

The entire Cobble Hill and Brooklyn Heights areas receive all emergency service from LICH.

A public hearing will be held on Thursday, preceding a vote on Friday.

SUNY Downstate reportedly spent over $200 million on the failing 155-year-old hospital two years ago.
