The MBTA announced that some service will slowly start resuming Sunday afternoon.

At 11 a.m., T officials posted on their webpage that service is expected to be fully up and running by Monday morning.

MassDOT Secretary of Transportation Richard Davey and MBTA General Manager Beverly Scott gave an update at South Station this afternoon.

“Is it going to be perfection today? No it is not,” Scott said while outlining the T’s recovery plan.

The MBTA will resumed limited MBTA subway and key bus route service at 2 p.m. today on the Red, Orange and Blue lines between Orient Heights and Government Center, and on the Green Line between Kenmore and Lechmere.

Limited bus service was expected on the 1, 23, 28, 39, and Silver Line Washington Street Only.

Unless necessary, customers are encouraged to stay home and use service sparingly, according to the T.

Regularly scheduled MBTA service is expected to resume at the start of service on Monday, but T officials are warning of “significant delays” in the hopes that riders are prepared for a long and likely grueling commute.

When asked when all bus stops will be cleared for waiting passengers, a spokeswoman for MassDOT said: “Crews are working tirelessly and are focused on restoring service and clearing stops and stations as quickly as possible. With the sheer volume of snow it will take time to get to many stops.”
As stops are cleared T officials will update mbta.com/winter

Service was suspended at 3:30 p.m. Friday, just as the fifth largest snow storm to hit Boston started to blanket the city with what would end up being more than 20 inches of snow.
