A Somerville man was arrested Friday afternoon, just as the Blizzard of 2013 was picking up momentum, for allegedly trying to sell an stolen bicycle to an undercover Transit Police detective.

According to police, Phillip Pinto, 38, met a detective on Temple Street in Somerville to sell a Women’s Specialized Hybrid Globe 1 bike that was reported stolen on Jan. 28 from the College Avenue side of the Davis Square MBTA station.

The bike’s owner tipped off police after she saw the bike sale advertised on Craigslist. During the sting operation, officers found that the bike’s serial number matched that of the stolen bike.

Pinto was charged with receiving stolen property, according to Transit Police.
