Police are investigating a bizzare and frightening crime for two women living in East Boston.

Officers responded to a building near Murry Court and Orleans Street just before 5 a.m. Monday for a report of a breaking and entering and sexual assault.

The women who live in the apartment said they were awoken by a man standing in their bedroom. The man indecently touched both of the women and then fled out a window.

Police said the women described the suspect as a white or Hispanic man about 30 or 40 years old with light facial hair. Officers are investigating.

People can keep their homes safe by consistently locking their windows, installing strong doors, using safe, deadbolt locks and always locking the outer hallway doors of an apartment or shared building, police said.
