Milo, the dog that was ordered put down by Mansfield officials after attacking a young boy, allegedly attacked again this weekend.

The pointer hound mix attacked a 16-year-old girl Saturday, Mansfield police said in a brief statement. The girl, whose condition was unknown Sunday, was taken to Hasboro Children’s Hospital in Rhode Island for treatment.

“The dog is currently in the custody of the Mansfield animal control officer,” police said in their statement.

Last week, the town’s Board of Selectmen voted to have Milo euthanized after he attacked a 6-year-old boy who required 400 stitches after the attack, according to The Sun Chronicle. Milo’s owner was babysitting the boy during the January attack.

After last week’s close, controversial vote, board Chairman Olivier Kozlowski told Metro that the decision to order the dog to be euthanized was a difficult vote.

“Obviously it’s a really tough call,” Kozlowski said. “I don’t think anybody can look at what happened and just call it a nuisance.”

After last week’s vote, Kozlowski said the issue now heads before the district court and that the family planned to appeal.
