VIDEO: Lauren Silberman’s kicks fall short during NFL try out
MIT alum Lauren Silberman stole the title of first woman to try out for the National Football League, however the 28-year-old only managed two kicks, none of which traveled even 20 yards.
Despite never before playing football, Silberman on Sunday attempted to become the first woman, and MIT alumnus, to play in the NFL.
According to a report by “Slice of MIT,” a video of Silberman successfully kicking NFL-range field goals prompted her to register for an NFL regional scouting combine.
Silberman was one of 40 kickers competing at the March 3 combine in New Jersey, however her attempt was less than successful.
According to a report by the Los Angeles Times, Silberman said her struggles were due to a right quadriceps injury she suffered earlier in the week while preparing for the tryout.
Her first kick went 19 yards, and her second attempt went 13 yards.
