Between March 1 and March 3, nearly 300 of Boston’s divorced women signed up to become what a Sugar Daddy website refers to as “Sugar Babies.”

According to SeekingArrangement.com, 293 local divorcees sought “arrangements” on the website during the first three days of March, a month that is notorious for high divorce rates. The website, which claims to cater to “mutually beneficial relationships,” received 4,884 “Divorced” and 2,981 “Separated” Sugar Baby signups overall.

According to Website Spokesman Leroy Velasquez, a “sugar baby” is a man or woman that is “taken care of” by a wealthy benefactor, commonly known as “sugar daddies” or “sugar mommies.”

“Unlike a traditional relationship, a Sugar Baby receives a monthly allowance that can range from $3,000 to over $10,000 a month, not including other presents (trips, cars, clothes, jewelry, etc.),” Velasquez said. “Both engage in a mutually beneficial relationship, which can be friendship, companionship, or romantic. This all depends on the type of relationship both parties agreed upon when first meeting.”

When surveyed, approximately 76 percent of the 7,865 Sugar Babies attributed their immediate signups due to the financial burden associated with marriage.

Boston was ranked 7 on the list of Top 10 “Sugar Baby Rebound” Cities with 199 “Divorced” and 94 “Separated” females joining the website in the three-day span, according to the website.

“An arrangement has the benefits of marriage without the looming possibility of divorce,” says Brandon Wade, CEO and Founder of SeekingArrangement.com. “This type of relationship is honest and fair, which is why many newly divorced and separated women desire an arrangement after marital breakups.”
