The three candidates competing for the Republican nomination in the U.S. Senate special election square off for the first time tonight.

Stonehill College in Easton will host a forum with former U.S. Attorney Michael Sullivan, Cohasset businessman Gabriel Gomez and Norfolk state Rep. Daniel Winslow.

The hour-long debate starts at 7 p.m. in the Pettit Atrium of the Shields Science Center. It’s free and open to the public.

Additional match-ups are still being finalized. Winslow wants to have nine debates, one in each of the state’s congressional districts. Sullivan hopes to limit it to four.

The school will also hold a debate between Democratic candidates and U.S. Congressmen Ed Markey and Stephen Lynch on April 1.

The primaries are slated for April 30. Voters head to the polls June 25 to elect a new senator.
