Republic Bank robber
FBI. Surveillance footage from yesterday’s robbery of the Republic Bank in Center City.

Investigators are looking for a man they believe is responsible for the robbery of six area banks.

The suspect struck yesterday at the Republic Bank branch located at 1818 Market Street in the Rittenhouse area of Center City, according to police.  Authorities said he handed a teller a threatening demand note around 12:20 p.m. and fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The same man is believed to have robbed five other banks, including the same Center City Republic Bank branch on Feb. 19, investigators said

He is described as a six-foot-tall black male in his late 30s or early 40s with a slender build and scruffy facial hair. He was last seen wearing a dark knit cap, a black coat, jeans, sunglasses and light brown boots.

The man is considered armed and dangerous. There may be an award for information leading to his arrest, according to authorities.
