The Castle at Park Plaza opened Monday night as a resource and information center for displaced residents, runners and their families and friends.

Those in need of shelter were offered a bed Monday night at the center, which is located at the intersection of Columbus Avenue and Arlington Street. It opened again Tuesday at 9 a.m. There will also be information available on counseling services.

City officials said runners will also be able to pick up belongings that were left on the marathon’s shuttle buses Monday.

A crime scene perimeter has been established in the Back Bay. On Wednesday, and likely remaining for several days, Boylston Street will be closed to traffic and pedestrians from Berkley Street to Massachusetts Avenue. All side streets along Boylston Street will also be closed from Huntington Avenue to Newbury Street.

Buildings will not be accessible while the crime scene is active, according to officials, who also warned of an increased police presence Tuesday.

National Guard and other armed officers around the city and in the MBTA will be conducting random bag inspections.

BostonPublic Schools are closed this week for April recess. School officials will make counseling teams available for 1,500 students who are attending intensive vacation-week Acceleration Academy tutoring, which is going ahead as scheduled.
