City introduces first Nissan Leaf electric taxis
Mayor Michael Bloomberg tried out the city’s new electric taxis on Monday, the first of the eco-friendly vehicles to join the city’s fleet of cabs.
The mayor rode in the city’s first all-electric taxi this morning, stepping out at Rockefeller Center.
Six of the Nissan Leaf taxis hit the streets Monday, according to the mayor’s office.
The mayor’s administration hopes to make one third of the taxi fleet electric by 2020, officials said.
