VIDEO: Police seeking Wissinoming rapist

Philadelphia police are seeking the public’s help identifying a man they say raped and robbed a woman on the 5800 block of Frankford Avenue earlier this month.

The crime happened in the city’s Wissinoming section on April 8 about 3:45 a.m.

The victim was walking from SEPTA’s Frankford Terminal, on the 5700 block of Frankford Avenue, when the suspect approached her.

The suspect engaged the victim in conversation before he punched her in the face, police said. He then picked her up and carried her across the street behind the recreation center at Wissinoming Park, where he sexually assaulted her and robbed her of $100.

The suspect is described as a dark-skinned black male, 25 to 35 years old, about 6 feet tall and of a medium build. He was wearing a red hoodie with white designs or patches on the front and sleeve, blue jeans and glasses, and had a beard.

If you recognize the man in the video, police want you to call the Special Victims Unit at 215-685-3253/3254/3263 or leave an anonymous tip by calling 215-686-TIPS (8477) or by texting PPD TIP (773847). You can also submit information by electronic form by clicking here.
