[UPDATE] Society Hill gunfire injures pharmacist

A 34-year-old man was critically injured in rare gunfire in the Society Hill section of Philadelphia Monday night.

The gunfire occurred in a courtyard near Lawrence Court and Pine Street  just after 10 p.m., according to police.

Two robbers stole the victim ‘s iPhone on the 400 block of Lombard Street. The suspects ran north on 4th Street before splitting up as the robbery victim chased behind them. One of the suspects shot the 34-year-old man as the victim approached him in the courtyard.

The victim remains in critical condition at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital this morning, police said.

The gunman was last seen running toward Spruce Street.

Police described the shooter as a dark-skinned black male with a beard or mustache, 25 to 30 years old, and about 5-feet-8 and 225 pounds. He was wearing a black sweatshirt and dark pants and was carrying a black backpack.

The second suspect is described as a black male who is 25 to 30 years old and about 6-feet tall  and 170 pounds. He was wearing a gray hoodie and dark pants.

The victim is the head pharmacist at the CVS drugstore in Queen Village, according to 6ABC Action News.
