VIDEO: Police seek suspects in West Philadelphia armed robberies

Police are seeking the public’s help solving two recent West Philadelphia armed robberies believed to have been committed by the same duo.

The robberies occurred a week apart from each other at businesses located less than two miles from one another. Two armed suspects carried out each crime.

Police on Thursday posted surveillance video footage from the two robberies to YouTube.

The first armed robbery occurred about 10 p.m. Wednesday, May 15, at Little Caesars at 5901 Lancaster Ave. The suspects entered the store with handguns, forced an employee to open the cash register, then fled west on Lancaster Avenue with an undisclosed amount of cash, police said.

The second armed robbery occurred about 9:40 p.m. Wednesday, May 22, at Dollar General at 801 N. 48th St. The video shows the suspects forcing two employees to empty the contents from a cash register into a black bag. There were several customers in the store at the time.

Police described the suspects as black males. One has a light complexion, is about 5-feet-6 and 150 pounds, and has light brown or hazel eyes. The second has a darker complexion, police said. (View the YouTube video to the left to see what each suspect is wearing in the robberies.)

Police ask anyone with any information about this crime to call 215-686-TIPS (8477) or text a tip to PPD TIP (773847). You can also submit information by electronic form by clicking here.
