Delaware man charged with fifth DUI

Delaware State Police on Sunday arrested a Dover man and charged him with his fifth DUI offense, according to Delaware State Police.

Investigators said Raymond Warncke, 33, was driving a Nissan Sentra on South DuPont Highway near Canterbury Road in Felton shortly before 4 p.m. when a state trooper on patrol observed he wasn’t wearing his seat belt.

The trooper conducted a traffic stop during which Warncke allegedly gave him a fake name, though the trooper was able to determine his true identity.

Police said Warncke was found to be in violation of a court order mandating he not be in contact with a 40-year-old female, who they claim was a passenger in the vehicle.

As the trooper spoke with Warncke, he said he smelled an odor of alcoholic beverages, which prompted a DUI investigation.

Warncke was taken into custody and allegedly found to be in possession of about 11 grams of marijuana.

He was taken to Troop 3 near Camden, where police said a computer inquiry into his license revealed he had four previous DUI convictions – one each in March of 2005, October 2006, August 2008 and September 2011.

Warncke was arraigned and charged with a fifth-offense DUI, criminal impersonation, marijuana possession, driving with a suspended or revoked license, failing to wear a seat belt and breaching release.

He was, as of Monday, jailed at the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center on $16,501 secured bond.
