Dunkin’ Donuts launches bacon, egg and doughnut sandwich
Breakfast lovers, rejoice. No longer will you have to decide whether to have a doughnut or bacon and eggs. Dunkin’ Donuts will give you all three in one sandwich.
The Associated Press reported that the Canton, Mass.-based chain will begin selling its Glazed Donut Breakfast Sandwich nationwide Friday, which happens to be National Donut Day (a holiday that’s been around since 1938, according to Dunkin’ Donuts).A few stores in the Boston area have been testing the new sandwich — which features a fried egg and bacon between two halves of a glazed doughnut — since early April.
Perhaps surprisingly, the sandwich is said to be (only) 360 calories. According to a Huffington Post infographic, it’s lower in calories, sugar, salt and saturated fat than other items already on the Dunkin’ menu — including a sweetened iced coffee and the recently unveiled turkey sausage sandwich.
As of Monday morning, there was no official announcement of the new sandwich on the company’s website. Somewhat coincidentally, a recent press release announced the addition of two new members to the company’s Nutrition Advisory Board.
