Self-service bike shop kiosks arrive in Brooklyn
Bikes seem to be on everyone’s radar these days, and one local start-up is looking to coast along.
Express Biker has debuted their 24-hour vending machines that sell tools and bike parts in two Brooklyn locations. Down-on-their-luck cyclists who pop a tire late at night can visit the Emporium gas station across the street from the Brooklyn Navy Yard or the 24-hour Mobil gas station near Prospect Park and purchase a patch kit with the swipe of a credit card.
The self-service kiosks are the brainchild of Crown Heights resident Shimon Kivman.
“There’s nothing else out there full-time for cyclists,” Kivman told DNAinfo. “We’re trying to get them in as many places as we can.”
Express Biker also sells lights, C02 cartridges, patch kits, tubes and other accessories that range in price from $5 to $30.
