PETA names Citizens Bank Park most vegetarian friendly again
The Phillies have gone six for seven.
In the last seven years, PETA has named Citizens Bank Park the top vegetarian-friendly ballpark in Major League Baseball six times.
The ballpark won the annual People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals Top 10 survey again this year. The group cited the following dishes as key factors: meat-free chicken steak, vegetarian pit-beef barbecue, faux beef steak, veggie dog, black-bean burger, vegetarian burrito and hummus.
“The fresh salads and fruit cups are perfect for fans looking for lighter fare,” PETA’s Lisa Lange said in a statement.
“Citizens Bank Park continues to dominate PETA’s Vegetarian-Friendly Ballpark rankings,” Lange said. “Ballparks across the country are showing their fans respect by offering healthy and humane food that will help keep them around to cheer on the home team for many years to come.”
The Detroit Tigers’ Comerica Park finished second with dishes such as faux Italian sausage, vegetarian sushi platter, vegetable stir-fry, corn on the cob and vegan riblet sandwich.
