VIDEO: Robbery gang targets South Philly pharmacy
Police are looking for a gang of four men caught on camera June 18 robbing the Sav-Mor Pharmacy at 2237 S. 7th St. in South Philadelphia.
Though each of the suspects allegedly played different parts in the crime, surveillance footage from properties surrounding the pharmacy reveals a meticulously planned operation.
Police said one of the men entered the pharmacy around 6 a.m. and cased the store while three other men waited outside.
He can be seen on video making a call on his cell phone, which police said alerted the other suspects it was an “opportune time” to rob the pharmacy.
Moments later, the surveillance footage shows a gunman bursting into the store, where he allegedly demanded money.
Police said the other two suspects acted as lookouts during the robbery, with the third man waiting by the door as the fourth man stood outside.
Though the man who made the phone call sticks up his hands during the robbery as though he’s an innocent victim, police say he was caught on video just moments before the crime meeting up with the lookouts, who then walked to wait with the gunman.
The suspects all fled on foot after the gunman took an undisclosed amount of cash, according to investigators.
All of the suspects are described to be about 20 years of age.
The gunman is described as a 6-foot-tall black male who was last seen wearing a mask covering his face, gloves, a dark hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans. Police say he was carrying a backpack and a handgun.
The man suspected of casing the pharmacy is described as a 5-foot-8-inch tall Asian male with a thin build. He was last seen wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans.
The suspect who allegedly stood by the pharmacy’s door is described as a 20-year-old, 6-foot-tall black male with a thin build. He was last seen wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans.
